Interior Design Trends popping up for 2023

We are well into 2023, and there is no turning back. New Year, new you, a new page, a new chapter; whether you have resolutions or have already broken them, the intentions of a good year are always top of mind.

With a new year comes vision and goals. Revamping your home is the best place to start. It is easy to find ourselves decluttering, organizing, and cleaning out the closet that piled up throughout the last season in hopes of a fresh start for the new year ahead.
If you are thinking of going a bit deeper than the overflowing closet, we have a few trends to keep in mind as we embark on this season. Design trends that feel timeless and malleable with the ever-changing style.

First, we have good news for you, this year’s trends are about building on what you already have. No need to think of this year as an overhaul; instead, it is about taking your foundation of style to the next level. Don’t worry; neutrals are still in. That is right if you hopped on the neutral train, there is no need to fret, you are not dated just yet, but this year’s style will challenge you to warm up your space. Think less sterile stark white and more warm tones. Warming up your neutrals with natural materials such as wood, rattan, cane, cotton, wool, and linen.

For a colour pallet, muted colours are all the rave that will go great with your neutral foundation. Earthy tones, plums, and mustard will take your neutral space to a new, elevated, welcoming environment. You can bring these colours into your home with boldly patterned wallpaper offering texture and nature-inspired prints. Try this style in your office, laundry room, entry or even mud room.

If you are thinking of switching out your textiles, this year’s trends will guide you on a journey of texture. Nubby fabrics like sherpa are all the rave; however, if you want something longer lasting, try velvets, linen, and cotton. Feel free to mix your old with the new when it comes to furniture pieces and fabrics. Statement rugs with bold deep colours can liven up your space without becoming overpowering.

Do you want more than just surface details with colour and thinking of changing up the paint on your walls? Think deep jewel tones, deep greens, and earthy and timeless blues. Don’t be afraid to use all these together; the most stunning colours can elevate the richness of your space.

If you are renovating on a larger spectrum or building a new home, there are so many trends this season that you will not want to miss. Try incorporating arches and rounded edges into your design plan. What once was a thing of the past has returned, and with high ceilings, large hallways and bright entryways, arched entries, and windows can be a beautiful aesthetic that may have otherwise been overlooked. Alternatively, you can incorporate curves by adding curved back couches, chairs, and mirrors for décor.

Those who have lived through the 70s may feel like all these curved elements are a time-lapse, but with the proper esthetics, this flashback is not your grandma’s kitchen but a new take on elements from the past. Additionally, mixed metals for your finishes with neutral stone surfaces for your fireplace, countertops and backsplash are all trending. Additionally, you can still jump on the gold accents and fixtures, as gold continues to be popular throughout this year.

As we continue through 2023, we believe your home can be trendy by simply incorporating any of these tips. There is no one size fits, and it is important to make your space yours. One that you truly love living in. Whether it’s switching up the rugs, throw pillows and bedding, adding a new bold blue to the walls or renovating your kitchen to be the space of your dreams – have fun with it.
