Our Leadership Team
Greg Bird – President
Greg Bird is a highly accomplished real estate and development professional with over 40 years of experience in the industry. He is currently the President of Acorn Group of Companies, where he oversees all aspects of the company's operations.
Prior to this, he held executive positions in other companies, such as Vice President of Development at Three Sisters Resorts Inc. in Canmore, AB, and Vice President of Real Estate and Development at Nelson Lumber Company Ltd. in Edmonton, AB.
Throughout his career, Greg has been responsible for various aspects of real estate development, including land purchases and sales, land development, single and multi-family home building, condominium conversions, commercial development, and finance. His extensive expertise has been honed through years of experience managing real estate operations across British Columbia, Alberta, and the USA.
Greg is an active member of several professional associations, including the Urban Development Institute (UDI) – Kelowna and Habitat for Humanity. He has also served as a past Director for the Greater Edmonton Home Builders Association and the Manitoba Home Builders Association and as a past Member of the Big Brothers Association, Manitoba.
Ron Hickey – General Manager
Ron Hickey is an accomplished professional in the residential construction industry, bringing over 18 years of experience across various roles. He has designed and delivered more than 200 single-family homes and 100 multi-family units, showcasing his expertise in project management, cost estimation, customer service, and site supervision.
Currently, Ron serves as the General Manager at Acorn Communities Ltd. Throughout his time with the company, he has taken on several key positions, including Site Superintendent and Cost Estimator (2012–2016) and Construction Manager (2016–2024). His career in the industry began as a General Labourer in 2006.
Ron is an active member of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association and the Urban Development Institute in Kelowna, reflecting his dedication to staying current with industry trends and best practices.
